PSP Fact Sheet
Description
The Practice Support Program (PSP) fosters transformation in patient care by helping physicians build capacity in their practices through the use of innovative clinical and practice management tools and strategies
The PSP began as an initiative of the General Practice Services Committee (GPSC), a partnership of the BC Medical Association (BCMA) and the Ministry of Health, and now receives additional direction, support, and funding from the Shared Care Committee and the Specialist Services Committee (also partnerships between the BCMA and Ministry of Health)
Purpose
To put tools and evidence-informed strategies in the hands of physicians, helping enhance the efficiency of their practices and supporting improved delivery of patient care

From the GPSC as part of the 2006 Physician Master Agreement between the BC Medical Association and the provincial Ministry of Health Additional from the Specialist Services Committee for specialist engagement in the PSP Additional from the Shared Care Committee for development and delivery of and specialist participation in modules with a shared care approach

Program accessibility
Available through PSP regional support teams located in the regional health authorities
Training and support
Provided through health authority regional support team members, PSP physician practice leaders located throughout the province, and in-practice coaching that meets the needs of a particular physician community
Participants 2316 of BC’s practising family physicians have participated in PSP learning modules; i.e., nearly 70% of BC family physicians
