Evaluation

The decision whether to expand or discontinue the pilot will be made by looking at the Quintuple Aim. At a high-level, this means looking at the changes that take place in each of the following elements (first column), as demonstrated by one or more measures (second column):



Patient experience
  • Post-call satisfaction surveys

Patient outcomes
  • Impact on use of ERs, UPCCs, and walk-in clinics (based on billing data)
  • Time to follow-up with family physician/ nurse practitioner (based on billing data)

Provider experience
  • Satisfaction surveys
  • Reduced perceived burden amongst existing family physicians/ nurse practitioners
  • Reduced barrier to consider longitudinal practice amongst residents

Health equity
  • Impact on access to after hours coverage by various demographic groups

Cost of care
  • Impact on ER visits
  • Impact on number of after hours calls
